School Counselor, Youth Coach In Capital Region Took 'Compromising' Photos Of Child, Police Say

A middle school guidance counselor is among two people from the region who are accused of secretly taking inappropriate photos of a child.

Albany County residents Kristy Koldis, age 45, and Joshua White, age 46, both of Latham, were arrested Friday, July 28, after troopers were tipped off that inappropriate pictures of a child were being shared online.

Investigators determined that the pair had taken photos of a child without their knowledge while the victim was in “compromising positions,” according to New York State Police.

The photos involved in the case were not taken on any school property or athletic venues.

Koldis, a counselor at Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School in Albany and professor at Russell Sage College in Troy, is charged with the following:

  • Unlawful surveillance
  • Endangering the welfare of a child
  • Obstructing governmental administration

White, who is actively involved in local youth baseball and basketball, is charged with:

  • Unlawful surveillance
  • Endangering the welfare of a child

Both were released from custody following their arraignment at the Colonie Town Court.

Koldis has since been placed on administrative leave by the City School District of Albany.
